Increasing Behavioral Intention to Use a Psychological Online Intervention for Women with Sexual Difficulties
Abstract
This study examines whether an acceptance-facilitating intervention (AFI), grounded in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), can increase women’s acceptance of and intention to use an online psychological program for low sexual desire (eSense). Adult women with sexual desire and/or arousal difficulties will be randomly assigned to view either the AFI or a basic program description. The study aims to test whether exposure to the AFI leads to higher endorsement of UTAUT acceptance factors, greater increases in help-seeking intention, and higher likelihood of engaging in a behavioral step toward program use (providing an email address). It is expected that the AFI will positively influence acceptance-related cognitions and attitudes, resulting in increased intention and behavioral engagement, with effects mediated by changes in UTAUT factors.
