Abstract

This study will investigate how social support mediates the relationship between college generation status and identity resolution. Research finds that social support offers an abundance of benefits for those who perceive having high social support, suggesting it can buffer stressors. Utilizing quantitative methods, this study will expand on our understanding of stage six in Erikson’s psychosocial theory among first-generation (FG) college students and continuing-generation (CG) college students and explore the extent to which social support impacts this relationship.
