The Rising Rate of Cesarean Deliveries in Egypt
Abstract
Egypt reports one of the highest cesarean section (CS) rates globally, reaching 72.2% in 2021. This surge transcends medical necessity and suggests a profound shift in the obstetric landscape. This scoping review aims to map the evidence regarding this trend, focusing specifically on the economic sustainability of the healthcare system and the structural gap created by the lack of an autonomous midwifery profession.
