Abstract

Background: heterogeneity of methods/outcomes in infant microbiota research. Objectives: map evidence on mode of delivery and infant gut microbiota ≤12 months, including study designs, methods, sampling windows, metrics, confounders, and gaps. Eligibility criteria: human studies; infants 0–12 months; mode of delivery reported; microbiota assessed from intestinal/fecal samples; any setting/country.
