Abstract

This pre-registration details the confirmatory structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis plan for the MoustiKAP-P nationwide Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) survey on mosquito-borne disease (MBD) prevention in metropolitan France. The study integrates two established theoretical frameworks: the Health Belief Model (HBM) and the 7C psychological antecedents model. Using a parallel mediation approach, we will test whether knowledge about mosquito-borne diseases affects protective practices directly and indirectly through attitudinal mediators. The analysis employs Diagonally Weighted Least Squares (DWLS) estimation with polychoric correlations. The primary objectives are to: (a) assess the relationships among knowledge, attitudes, and protective practices regarding tiger mosquito ecology and MBD prevention; (b) identify which attitudinal constructs most strongly mediate the knowledge-to-practice pathway; (c) evaluate whether the HBM framework or the 7C framework demonstrates superior predictive validity for protective behaviors; and (d) examine regional variation in these relationships across metropolitan France.
