Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is an important contributor to morbidity and mortality worldwide. Personality change following stroke has been described in patient information literature, often citing few scientific sources. Aim: This scoping review will examine scientific literature regarding personality change following stroke, describe definitions and measurement methods used in the literature, and their relation to established psychological models. It will also identify research gaps. Methods: Using scientific databases, such as MEDLINE and EMBASE, a systematic literature search will be performed. Two reviewers will independently conduct title, abstract and full-text search in accordance with pre-defined eligibility criteria. Citation chasing will be performed with included records. Data charting will be performed independently by two researchers using a standardised data charting form. This scoping review will follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR).
