Do Therapist Trainings Work? A Meta-Analysis of Interventions to Improve Therapeutic Skills
Abstract
This project conducts a meta-analysis examining whether psychological therapist training effectively improves therapist skills. We synthesize empirical studies evaluating active training programs that include pre–post assessments of clinically relevant therapeutic competencies. The findings aim to identify which training approaches are most effective and under which conditions therapist skill development is optimized, thereby informing evidence-based training practices in psychotherapy education and continuing professional development.
