Abstract

This registration covers the systematic literature review component of a larger mixed-methods study examining indigenous knowledge integration in climate adaptation. The parent study also includes policy document analysis (n=85 policies scored using the Knowledge Integration Maturity Model) and case study research, which employ different methodological approaches and are not covered by this systematic review registration. The systematic literature review aims to: 1. Map the intellectual landscape of indigenous knowledge integration research 2. Identify knowledge integration mechanisms documented in the academic literature 3. Synthesize success factors and persistent barriers to integration 4. Establish the theoretical foundation for the KIMM framework development This review follows PRISMA 2020 guidelines and searches the Scopus database for peer-reviewed publications on indigenous knowledge integration in climate adaptation contexts (2013-2025). Note: The policy document analysis component employs the Knowledge Integration Maturity Model (KIMM), a separate systematic protocol not appropriate for traditional systematic review registration. Details of the KIMM methodology are reported in the main manuscript.
