Abstract

This study examined the role of soil and water conservation practices at Lukenya University in improving land productivity and sustainability. Data were collected through field observations, surveys, and interviews with students and staff involved in campus conservation initiatives. The study assessed practices such as terracing, mulching, water harvesting, and planting cover crops, and analyzed their impact on soil erosion control and water retention. Results indicated that proper implementation of these practices significantly reduced soil degradation and improved water management on campus. The findings highlight the importance of adopting sustainable soil and water conservation methods in higher education institutions and other similar environments.
