Abstract

We aim to investigate how individuals evaluate a line of reasoning based on the response and justification provided by fictitious reasoners to a reasoning problem. More specifically, we seek to examine whether the evaluation of the quality of a reasoning process and its categorization as intuitive or deliberative is influenced by (a) the degree of explicitness of the justification, (b) the validity of the justification, and (c) the correctness of the proposed response to the problem.
