ANALYSIS OF ATTENTION SPAN DIFFERENCES BASED ON SOCIAL MEDIA PREFERENCES IN YOUNG ADULTS
Abstract
The high intensity of social media use among young adults raises concerns about its impact on cognitive aspects, one of which is attention span. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in attention span levels based on social media platform preferences, specifically TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter/X, among young adults in DKI Jakarta. The study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional analytical survey design and One Way ANOVA analysis technique. Participants were individuals aged 18-39 years in Greater Jakarta and actively used social media for at least 3 hours per day. Data collection was conducted through an online questionnaire that included demographic data, social media preferences, and attention span measurement using the Attentional Control Scale (ATTC). The study is expected to provide relevant recommendations for users in the context of digital awareness and the development of healthier social media habits.
