Gender dynamics in patient-therapist dyads in psychotherapy and their role for the treatment process: A scoping review
Abstract
This scoping review aims to synthesize the existing evidence on gender dynamics in patient-therapist dyads in psychotherapy and their connection to the treatment process and associated therapeutic outcomes. Although gender is increasingly recognized as a clinically important variable, research on the topic is still fragmented and mostly limited to individual findings within specific areas. No comprehensive overview of gender dynamics in psychotherapy exists to date. The review's objective is to systematically map and structure the available evidence, with the aim of supporting clinical implications of gender in psychotherapy.
