Modulating Throat Hypersensitivity
Abstract
This single-subject longitudinal case study investigates hypersensitivity of the oropharyngeal region triggered by specific foods and modulated by physiological and behavioral variables. The study employs a multimodal experimental design evaluating four independent variables: pre-meal water intake, hunger modulation through meal timing, oral stimulation techniques, and trauma reenactment. Data collection spanned 90 meals over three months with systematic variation of these modules. Outcomes include symptom severity, vocal function via Carnatic alankara phonation, drool index, salivary pH, breathlessness, and stress levels.
