The Demandingness Spiral™
Abstract
The Demandingness Spiral™ presents a structural account of how interpretive pressure escalates within helping relationships. The paper analyzes the recursive intensification of expectation, obligation, and meaning-making that can occur when assistance is continually interpreted rather than quietly perceived. Within Somatic & Physical Literacy™, this work situates the demandingness spiral as an ethical phenomenon grounded in attention, boundaries, and the withdrawal of interpretive force. It contributes to phenomenology, relational ethics, caregiving studies, and attentional theory by clarifying how interpretive demand accumulates across interpersonal contexts. This registration provides a stable archival record of the finalized conceptual framework for scholarly reference and citation.
