Pre-registered Analysis of GCP2 Responses to Donald Trump’s Davos Speech (January 21, 2026)
Abstract
This project investigates whether high-frequency data from the Global Consciousness Project 2.0 (GCP2) exhibit systematic deviations from baseline behavior in temporal proximity to major collective attention events. The preregistered analysis focuses on Donald Trump’s speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21, 2026, a globally broadcast geopolitical address expected to generate heightened collective attention. Using predefined time windows surrounding the speech and a fixed analytical pipeline, the study tests whether GCP2 network dynamics show transient, event-specific changes during the live address and how attention propagated geographically and to compared the results to pre-event and control periods. The aim is to evaluate the temporal specificity and robustness of any observed deviations while minimizing researcher degrees of freedom.
