Abstract

This project develops a general physical model explaining how coherent structure emerges in systems driven far from equilibrium. Using Bénard convection as the anchor example and extending the analysis to Rayleigh–Taylor instability, dendritic crystal growth, and electroconvection, the work shows that coherence forms when energy input and dissipation efficiency outweigh natural decay. The formation equation captures this threshold behaviour and provides a unified framework for understanding pattern formation across diverse physical systems. The project includes the full paper, mathematical appendix, and conceptual diagrams outlining the mechanism linking energy flow to the spontaneous emergence of ordered structure.
