Gendered Provocation in Debates
Abstract
The goal of the current project is to investigate whether the backlash effect of gender stereotyping (e.g., Rudman, Moss-Racusin, Glick, et al., 2012), which postulates that agentic behavior in women is perceived negatively due to its transgression against gender stereotypes, also generalizes to intentional verbal provocation in informal debates. In addition, the project will allow exploratory analyses focusing on the effect of provocation in general on perceptions of both provocateur and provoked individual.
