Abstract

This project contains the registered protocol for a scoping review examining the management of penicillin-allergic patients undergoing third molar extraction. The review follows the Arksey & O'Malley (2005) framework and reports according to PRISMA-ScR (Tricco et al., 2018). Searches were conducted in PubMed and Scopus in February 2026. The review addresses three research questions: (1) the extent and nature of published evidence on antibiotic management for penicillin-allergic patients undergoing third molar surgery; (2) clinical outcomes associated with alternative antibiotic regimens; and (3) penicillin allergy evaluation and de-labeling strategies proposed in oral surgical settings.
