Perception of pharmacist or pharmacy students about the application of artificial intelligence in pharmacy settings: a systematic review
Abstract
Artificial intelligence is creating a new social and economic organization worldwide, with an expected impact on all health fields, such as in community and/or hospital pharmacies settings. Community and/or hospital pharmacies are responsible for ordering and dispensing medicines, controlling the validities of drugs, counselling patients about efficacy and safety of medicines, following patients in pharmaceutical care programs, reviewing the pharmacotherapy, dispensing and advising about medical devices and/or nutraceuticals, monitoring biochemical parameters, such as cholesterol or glycemia, checking weight or blood pressure, among many other legal functions. Thus, the primary and secondary objectives of the present systematic review are as follows: - To identify and discuss the perceptions of pharmacists about the application of artificial intelligence in community and/or hospital pharmacies (primary objective). - To identify and discuss the perceptions of pharmacy students about the application of artificial intelligence in community and/or hospital pharmacies (primary objective). - To identify and discuss possible barriers to the application of artificial intelligence in pharmacy practice or education (secondary objective). - To identify and discuss possible practical implications for pharmacy practice and education (secondary objective).
