Abstract

This is the initial registration. The updated registration, including the full scoping review protocol file, is available at DOI: 10.17605/OSF.IO/8GUQS Adherence to the 24-hour movement guidelines (encompassing moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, recreational screen time as an indicator of sedentary behaviour, and sleep) is critically low among children and adolescents worldwide. Accurate, comparable estimates depend on valid, reliable, and feasible approaches to operationalising guideline adherence, yet there remains a need for a comprehensive review to systematically map how adherence to the 24-hour movement guidelines has been measured in children and adolescents. This scoping review aims to summarise and map methods used to assess adherence to the 24-hour movement guidelines in children and adolescents, with a specific focus on the validity, reliability, and acceptability or feasibility of these methods.
