Abstract

In this study, we focus on innovation diffusion instead of innovation adoption solely. Innovation diffusion theories largely emerged from the study of agricultural technologies. While there are several literature reviews focusing on innovation diffusion, there is to our knowledge no literature review on innovation diffusion in the agricultural sector. In agricultural economics, there are several literature reviews that focus on innovation adoption and some mechanisms of innovation diffusion ; but none use a systematic approach. Yet a growing literature examines the diffusion of agricultural innovations, highlighting a variety of mechanisms and methods. We propose a systematic mapping review to summarize existing knowledge on innovation diffusion in agriculture and to identify knowledge gaps.
