Clinical predictors of stimulation tolerance in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for depressive disorders
Abstract
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is an established treatment for therapy‑resistant depression. However, some patients tolerate the magnetic stimulation only up to lower intensities, which may limit clinical effectiveness. This retrospective study analyzes routinely collected treatment data to identify factors—such as physical com-plaints, sleep disturbances, or psychological distress—that are associated with reduced stimulation tolerance. The findings may help optimize future TMS applications and improve patient comfort and treatment outcomes.
