Instrument for the Longitudinal Analysis of Identity and Ethical Transformation in the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (IAL-IAG)
Abstract
The Instrument for the Longitudinal Analysis of Identity and Ethical Transformation in the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (IAL-IAG) is a self-administered questionnaire designed to examine, from a longitudinal perspective, how users’ practices, perceptions, and ethical positions regarding generative artificial intelligence evolve within formal educational contexts, particularly in initial teacher education. The instrument enables data collection across an academic term or year, addressing dimensions such as personal relationships with generative AI, user profiles, emotions and ethical tensions, perceptions of institutional and instructional regulations, and the concrete use of AI tools in academic tasks. Its structure allows analysis at both course and task levels, making it possible to explore how pedagogical and assessment frameworks shape decisions related to AI use. The IAL-IAG combines closed-ended and open-ended items, supporting both quantitative analysis and qualitative reflection by participants. Rather than evaluating or judging AI use, the instrument aims to capture processes of identity, ethical, and professional transformation associated with the integration of generative AI in higher education. It is intended for research in higher education, teacher education, and critical AI literacy studies.
