Chalcone and Its Derivatives as Therapeutic Agents for Female Reproductive Cancers: A Systematic Review
Abstract
Chalcones and their derivatives possess a chemical scaffold that is extensively utilized in the development of anticancer therapeutics, owing to their potential across diverse pharmacological anticancer activities. This systematic literature review aims to analyze and synthesize recent evidence from January 2015 to April 2025, obtained from published case studies in several relevant databases, concerning the potential of chalcone-based compounds in combating female-specific cancers, including ovarian, cervical, and breast cancers. The included studies comprise in vitro and in vivo experimental research that elucidates the cytotoxic effects, underlying molecular mechanisms, and the selectivity of compounds. The all findings are consolidated into information indicating that chalcone-based compounds interact with multiple promising signaling pathways, supporting their development as targeted therapies for the treatment of female cancers.
