Retention Time of Visual Memory Array Modulates Visual Detection Sensitivity: Evidence from Gestalt Subjective Contours
Abstract
Previous studies have established that maintaining representations with subjective contours in visual working memory (VWM) requires additional reentry signals, which consequently impairs detection sensitivity—a phenomenon corroborated by our pre-registered protocol (see osf.io/zdb6g). The present study investigated whether detection sensitivity is truly modulated by reentry signals by examining whether detection performance recovers as a function of the temporal decay of reentry signals.
