Abstract

Biochar is a multifunctional carbon material with increasing relevance in circular economy and biorefinery systems. Microalgae are a promising feedstock due to their high productivity, nutrient recovery potential, and compatibility with integrated bioenergy and bioproduct pathways. This scoping review maps existing evidence on microalgae-derived biochar, focusing on production technologies, material properties, and circular applications.
