Loneliness in children and young people with long-term health conditions: a systematic literature review
Abstract
Loneliness is increasingly recognised as a serious challenge for children and young people (CYP), especially for those living with long-term health conditions (LTC) such as cystic fibrosis, diabetes, asthma. Managing an illness can limit social opportunities, cause school absences, and make it harder to keep friendships. This project will provide a modern review on the complexities of loneliness in CYP with a novel grouping of common LTCs to better inform children with health conditions and their families, carers, healthcare professionals, clinicians, academics, researchers, policy makers and charities.
