Prajñā as Observation in the Heart Sūtra (260 Characters)
Abstract
This project hosts the English paper “Prajñā as Observation in the Heart Sūtra (260 Characters).” It reframes prajñā not as a doctrinal abstraction or an attained result, but as an operative structure of observation grounded in contemplative practice. Accordingly, key Heart Sūtra formulations (emptiness, non-attainment, and related terms) are treated as functional constraints that prevent fixation and misrecognition rather than metaphysical propositions. Emptiness is clarified as the outcome of disciplined cognition that dismantles the conditions under which grasping arises. The Heart Sūtra is thus reconstructed as a compressed practice–cognitive protocol that articulates how observation produces liberative effects. This paper is part of an integrated four-paper set coordinated via the English core hub together with the Diamond Sūtra study and the Korean reconstruction paper.
