Oral Microbial and Biofilm Changes Related to the Use of Clear Aligners: A Scoping Review
Abstract
Clear aligners are increasingly used in orthodontics, but their impact on the oral microbiome, biofilm formation, and plaque accumulation compared with fixed appliances or no appliance remains unclear. The objective of this scoping review is to summarize current evidence on how clear aligners influence oral microbial ecology, biofilm development, and plaque accumulation in patients undergoing orthodontic treatment.
