Abstract

This registration documents the protocol for a scoping review that aims to systematically map how artificial intelligence (AI) systems support, shape, or contribute to situational awareness (SA) during human-AI teaming (HAIT). The review focuses on mechanisms through which AI systems perceive, interpret, and project situational information, as well as the interaction processes within the team that involve exchanging, aligning, repairing, or updating situational information. By synthesizing evidence across domains, this scoping review aims to identify cross-domain patterns and research gaps, and to inform the development of a conceptual framework describing the dynamic situational awareness loop mechanism in human-AI teaming. This registration serves to transparently document the review objectives, scope, and methodological intentions prior to formal database searching and screening.
