Why Viking Treasure Is Not at Oak Island: A Nautical, Cultural, and Logistical Assessment Jerry Harrah Independent Researcher
Abstract
Claims that Oak Island contains Viking treasure persist despite extensive archaeological and historical evidence to the contrary. This paper evaluates Viking maritime technology, cultural practices, cargo capacity, settlement behavior, and risk tolerance to demonstrate that Oak Island does not align with how Norse explorers operated or safeguarded wealth. The findings show that Viking activity in the North Atlantic was exploratory and seasonal rather than treasure-based.
