Sex/Gender differences in placebo analgesia and nocebo hyperalgesia: a pooled data analysis and living data resource
Abstract
This project aims to investigate the role of sex/gender in experimentally induced placebo analgesia (PA) and nocebo hyperalgesia (NH) using a pooled dataset from studies in healthy participants, and (2) to establish a living data resource that examines the influence of both participant and experimenter sex/gender on PA and NH. We begin by combining data from six studies collected as part of the CRC/TRR 289 “Treatment Expectation” as well as 20 studies from the "Placebo Imaging Consortium". The aim is to extend the living data resource as new evidence emerges, and disseminate the results via preprints and/or peer-reviewed publications.
