Internal Combustion, Laser-Driven HB11 Fusion Architecture (V-02)
Abstract
1. Abstract This study proposes a conceptual architecture for laser-driven proton–boron-11 (HB11) fusion, aiming for an internal combustion regime. The design integrates graded pressure accumulation, volumetric energy transfer, ponderomotive channeling of laser energy, and the kinetic management of alpha particles and electrons. Unlike traditional models, fusion efficiency relies on preserving fuel integrity through pressure gradients and volumetric confinement rather than merely reaching extreme peak temperatures. This framework demonstrates that the Managed Avalanche Progression (MAP) approach can shift HB11 fusion from a singular ignition problem to a controlled and stable internal combustion regime.
