Abstract

PROJECT PROSPECTUS: THE MYCO-SYNTHETIC GHOST CIRCUIT Sub-title: A Roadmap for Petaflop-Scale Bio-Synthetic Reservoir Computing Target Goal: Replacing high-energy GPU server farms with low-entropy, self-healing neuromorphic architectures. 1. The Innovation Current AI infrastructure is hitting a "thermal wall." Standard silicon-based GPUs dissipate massive amounts of heat and require extreme energy for cooling. This project proposes a radical shift: Bio-Synthetic Reservoir Computing (BSRC). Instead of manufacturing rigid silicon chips, we "grow" the initial computational architecture using fungal mycelium. We then use this biological network as a template for Post-Living Mineralization, infusing the structure with graphene and conductive polymers (PEDOT:PSS). The result is a "Ghost Circuit"—a synthetic processor that retains the optimized, high-efficiency "small-world" topology of biology but operates at electronic speeds (>1 GHz). 2. Competitive Advantages Energy Efficiency: Uses Reversible Spiking Logic, mimicking biological efficiency to operate near Landauer’s Limit (the theoretical minimum energy for bit erasure). Thermal Stability: The fractal, high-surface-area architecture of mycelia acts as a natural heat sink, maintaining temperatures below 37°C even at high processing speeds. Self-Healing: Utilizes embedded dormant bacterial spores (S. pasteurii) designed to activate and repair micro-fractures in the circuit in-situ. Scalability: Can be grown from agricultural waste, turning data centers from carbon-emitters into carbon-sequestering "computational forests." 3. Immediate Technical Requirements To move from theory to prototype, the following research pillars must be addressed: The Transition Phase: Perfecting the mineralization process to replace biological cytoplasm with conductive nano-materials without collapsing the network topology. I/O Interfacing: Developing "electrogenetic" transducers to bridge standard fiber-optic data streams with the bio-synthetic reservoir. 4. Disclosure & Ethics Statement This framework was conceptualized by Todd Caldwell using advanced AI synthesis to bridge mycology, nano-electronics, and infrastructure engineering. The human author provided the creative intent, the "Post-Living" transition pivot, and the industrial application focus. The AI served as a technical instrument for cross-disciplinary data synthesis and roadmap formalization.
