Dental Implants in the Geriatric Population: A Systematic Review of Success Rates, Systemic Risks, and Quality of Life Outcomes
Abstract
As the global population ages, the demand for fixed dental rehabilitation has surged. This paper evaluates the long-term success of dental implants in patients aged 65 and older. Through a review of current clinical data, we examine whether chronological age is a primary risk factor for implant failure or if success is more closely tied to systemic health and manual dexterity. Results indicate that 10-year survival rates in the elderly remain high (1$>90\%$), comparable to younger cohorts, provided that systemic conditions like Diabetes Mellitus and osteoporosis are managed.2
