Abstract

This OSF project documents the research project "The Caring City: Contributions from the Brazilian Context", carried out from February 2025 to January 2027, funded by MackPesquisa and coordinated by Luiz Guilherme Rivera de Castro. The project investigates how care-related and un-care-related elements, components, and processes are manifested and perceived in Brazilian urban environments, in relation to the climate emergency and social differences involving gender, age, disability and other physical-cognitive differences, and social inequalities. It combines a scoping review on care and urban contexts with empirical research in São Paulo. The initial scoping-review searches were run on 10 February 2026 and updated on 5 October 2026. The current analytical corpus comprises 51 articles. No completed OSF registration was submitted before screening; dated protocol versions and methodological updates are documented here for transparency and traceability.
