Abstract

This project is a scoping review examining psychosocial interventions designed to enhance resilience among college and university students, with a specific focus on evidence derived from randomized controlled trials. The transition into higher education represents a critical developmental period characterized by academic, social, and psychological challenges, making resilience a key construct for understanding student adaptation and well-being. Despite growing research interest, existing evidence on resilience-focused interventions remains conceptually diverse and methodologically fragmented, highlighting the need for a structured mapping of high-level experimental studies. The purpose of this review is to systematically identify, categorize, and synthesize randomized controlled trials that evaluate psychosocial interventions aimed at strengthening resilience or closely related adaptive outcomes within higher education contexts. Guided by established scoping review frameworks and PRISMA-ScR reporting principles, the study outlines transparent procedures for eligibility criteria, database searching, screening, and narrative synthesis. The review explores intervention characteristics, delivery formats, theoretical foundations, outcome measures, and reported effectiveness patterns across diverse student populations and settings. Expected outcomes of the project include a comprehensive overview of intervention approaches used to promote resilience, identification of methodological and conceptual gaps in current research, and clarification of how resilience is operationalized and measured in randomized studies involving college students. The findings aim to support future research development, inform psychosocial program design within higher education institutions, and contribute to evidence-informed strategies that promote student mental health and adaptive functioning.
