what are the barriers and challenges encounter among non medical students during real-life practical implementation of Basic Life Support (BLS)
Abstract
Non-medical students face several barriers when trying to perform Basic Life Support in real-life emergency situations. Although many of them receive basic training, they often forget the correct steps or proper techniques because they do not practice regularly. The lack of real-life experience makes it difficult for students to apply what they have learned. Fear is another major challenge; students may be afraid of hurting the patients, making mistakes, which can lead to panic and delay in starting BLS. Many students also lack confidence in their ability to perform CPR correctly and may wait for someone more experienced to help.
