Abstract

To map the existing evidence on the design, implementation, and evaluation of artificial intelligence-synergized virtual reality (AI-VR) interventions that aim to develop or assess medical communication skills among physicians, nurses, medical students, and nursing students. Specifically, we will: Identify the types of AI techniques (e.g., NLP dialogue engines, adaptive feedback, conversational agents) integrated into immersive VR platforms. Describe the communication skills targeted (e.g., breaking bad news, empathy, shared decision-making, interprofessional handover). Clarify the study populations, educational contexts, and outcome measures employed. Determine knowledge gaps and future research priorities in this emerging field.
