Experiences and factors shaping the identity of migrant groups in Australia: a scoping review protocol
Abstract
Limited literature exists about the current identity status of Australian South Sea Islanders - an Australian migrant group. Most scholarly literature about Australian South Sea Islanders is focused on historical factors such as the unjust recruitment of their forebears. This scoping review seeks to understand experiences and factors shaping the identity of Australian South Sea Islanders, along with other migrants and their descendants in Australia. This review will describe key concepts related to identity, identify commonalities and differences of experiences and influencing factors amongst migrant groups, while identifying knowledge gaps in the existing literature.
