Nutrition Management for Pregnant Women During Pregnancy to Prevent Stunting: A Scoping Review
Abstract
This manuscript presents a scoping review aimed at mapping scientific evidence related to maternal nutrition management during pregnancy, specifically in the context of stunting prevention in children. Stunting is a global health issue related to maternal malnutrition, impacting physical growth and cognitive development in children. In Indonesia, the persistently high prevalence of stunting underscores the urgency of research on this topic. The review includes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method studies published between 2020 and 2025 in Indonesian or English. The literature search method employed databases such as PubMed, Wiley, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar using a search strategy based on Boolean operators and MESH terms. After screening, 12 articles meeting the eligibility criteria were included in the review. The results indicate that nutritional education, micronutrient supplementation, and community-based interventions have a positive impact on improving pregnant women’s knowledge of balanced nutrition and contribute to reducing stunting prevalence. The authors conclude that integrated maternal nutrition management is crucial for stunting prevention and suggest the need for further research involving technology and community-based education on an international scale.
