Abstract

This scoping review aims to systematically map and synthesize the current scientific evidence regarding the relationship between intestinal permeability and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). We will explore the nature and extent of research across human studies, focusing on how intestinal barrier dysfunction, gut microbiota alterations, and related mechanisms contribute to CKD progression or are affected by it. Furthermore, the review will identify any proposed interventions targeting intestinal permeability in the context of CKD. This comprehensive mapping will highlight existing knowledge, identify research gaps, and inform future research directions in the gut-kidney axis within CKD.
