Altruistic Motives Activation and Willingness to Participate in Co-Production: Experimental Evidence from Waste Sorting
Abstract
Activating altruistic motivation is another promising policy tool, which aims to trigger the public's existing level of altruistic motivation through external conditions. So, can managers promote public participation in co-production by activating individuals' altruistic motivation? Current research still has limitations in understanding this issue. To address the aforementioned research needs, this study aims to investigate the following questions: Can activating altruistic motivation enhance the public's willingness to participate in co-production? What are the combined effects of activating altruistic motivation and different extrinsic incentives (monetary incentives, honor incentives) as policy combinations?
