Psychological Predictors of Support for Political Violence
Abstract
Political polarization has intensified hostility between opposing political parties in America -- but has it intensified to the point that we might support political violence against the opposing party? We examined whether people judge political violence differently when it comes from their own side versus the opposing side. In this study, we are investigating how individual differences, such as perceived victimhood and authoritarianism, predict willingness to support political violence.
