Environmental Sustainability in Dialysis Units: A Scoping and Integrative Review of Challenges and Innovations in Nephrology
Abstract
The global burden of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) drove the quick proliferation of dialysis units worldwide with the noble objective of saving and sustaining lives, but on the other hand, it raises a huge environmental cost. This study contributes to highlighting the widespread awareness that we need to adopt environmentally friendly approaches to mitigate climate change, as well as defining a pathway to achieve sustainability.
