Mindset and tracking: Psychological perspectives on endurance sports
Abstract
The study is being conducted as part of a master's thesis in the field of sports psychology. The aim is to investigate attributions of success and failure in a sports context, their effect on motivation, and the connection with the intensity of use of tracking apps. The study will be conducted using an online survey that includes demographic variables and sporting activity, as well as an attribution questionnaire (SASS), a motivation questionnaire (SMS-28), and a questionnaire on the use of tracking apps (FIB). Differences in attributional style are expected depending on gender and performance level. A optimistic attributional style is expected to correlate with higher intrinsic motivation. In addition, motivation is expected to differ depending on the intensity of tracking app use, depending on the attributional style.
