Abstract

Despite existing studies on teachers’ acceptance and intention to use GenAI, there is a paucity of research examining teachers’ actual uptake and practices in real classrooms. More specifically, teachers’ perspectives on students’ GenAI use remain underexplored. The present study will investigate how teachers perceive and respond, whether cautiously or eagerly, to students’ use of GenAI in learning, as well as how they integrate GenAI into teaching practices. Drawing on these real practices and shared experiences, we will identify teachers’ pedagogical decision-making and design, including how they adopt, customize, or train GenAI tools to meet learning objectives and support student learning. Based on these insights, the study will propose practical and theoretically informed strategies to help students, teachers, and institutions reflectively work with GenAI in higher education contexts.
