Toroidal Persistence Framework
Abstract
Toroidal Persistence Framework synthesizes four empirically-derived design principles enabling persistent systems across physics, neuroscience, ecology, and governance: quasi-periodic timing (≥15% variance), distributed polycentric nodes (≤40% load concentration), error recirculation (≥75% feedback incorporation), and nested feedback loops. From 96 peer-reviewed studies (2015-2025), closed-loop toroidal architectures demonstrate 25-60% lower cascading failure rates versus linear/monocentric designs. The framework advances a topological theory of justice where structural domination manifests as thermodynamic entropy export; privileged nodes externalizing systemic stress onto vulnerable periphery. Includes: full preprint (4,987 words), Toroidal Design Charter (falsifiable metrics + validation protocols), cross-domain evidence tables, 10 testable hypotheses with statistical power specifications. Prepares systems for sustained perturbation without harm concentration. Normative safeguards prevent hierarchical misuse. CC-BY 4.0.
