Abstract

This review focuses on adult patients who undergo tooth extraction and receive alveolar ridge preservation using allograft materials combined with hyaluronic acid. The aim is to understand how this combination performs in clinical practice and how it has been studied in the literature. This study systematically identifies and categorizes published clinical evidence including randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, split-mouth studies, case series and case reports. It examines how hyaluronic acid is formulated and applied with allografts such as DFDBA and FDBA, and documents surgical protocols used in different studies. This review summarizes outcome measures used to evaluate treatment effectiveness including radiographic ridge dimensional changes, CBCT-based bone density, histologic and histomorphometric new bone formation, residual graft material, soft tissue healing and implant placement feasibility. This study does not test a clinical intervention directly as it maps existing research, highlights trends, compares reported outcomes and identifies gaps in evidence, especially the limited number of high-quality randomized trials focusing specifically on hyaluronic acid–enriched allografts. Hence, the overall purpose is to provide clinicians and researchers with a clear overview of current knowledge, support evidence-informed decision-making in ridge preservation and guide future clinical trials and systematic reviews in regenerative dentistry.
