Abstract

This repository holds the supplementary materials for "Are We Forgetting Something? Two of the Most Effective Learning Strategies Are Not Explained in Norwegian Teacher-Education Materials" (Ingebrigtsen, Sandring, Bastesen, Dahl, & Sæle), submitted to Applied Cognitive Psychology. We collected the assigned pedagogy readings from the five largest postgraduate teacher education programs for general subjects (PPU-A) in Norway—about 1,790 pages—and asked whether they explain spaced repetition and retrieval practice. We split the texts into 9,308 three-sentence excerpts and scored every excerpt against 93 Norwegian labels with a zero-shot text classifier (Scandi-NLI-large). Excerpts scoring 0.90 or higher on any of the 16 labels targeting the two strategies were then screened and coded by hand. The corpus is copyrighted and cannot be shared. The repository contains what is needed to understand the analysis and learn from it to apply it to other materials. Also, the full label set with English translations are provided.
